Frequently Asked Questions
Do you offer credit repair services?
No, all we do is supply information for you. We do not claim or advertise that we can or will repair your credit. We'll give you ways or ideas on different topics on how you may improve your credit score or improve your credit report. You may not need a credit repair company after reading our 5 Credit Steps Guide on how you can improve your credit. Here's each of the 5 credit steps:
Step 2: Credit Report Information and Fixing Errors
Step 3: Collections & Negative accounts
Step 4: Get Approved
Step 5: Keep Tabs on Your Score & Watch it Grow
We're all about facts and accurate credit information and hope that the information and links in our site will help you along the way. The more you know about credit the more you can take advantage of the benefits you receive when having good or better credit. If interested in reading credit laws regarding credit repair organizations, or any other consumer protection acts - you can find it all here at creditmagic.net as well. Knowledge is power, so read and learn all you can about the credit world and if you happen to have a question you cannot find on our site, you can always send us a question or leave us feedback.
What's wrong with those credit repair companies?
Potentially nothing! However, just do a Google search on scams with credit repair companies. You will find far to many potential scams. Did you know it is "technically illegal" to collect money upfront for credit repair services? Check out: Consumer Credit Protection: Title 15 - Chapter 41 - SubChapter II-A: Credit Repair Organizations ยง1679b. Prohibited practices - (b) Payment in advance (located at the bottom of this subsection/page). Almost all of them do, and they get around it by charging "set-up" fees. In our opinion, folks with bad credit should not be taken advantage of, or for that matter, no one should take advantage of consumers, but far to often they do...
However, there are a few companies which, based on our research, seem to be reputable. One of the main things they do is dispute negative information, even if it's correctly reported, this is something you can do for free. The credit repair companies go through a few 'key' loop holes and can get some negative information off of your report regardless if it was accurately reported. Because of the few 'key' loop holes they know about, they can sometimes remove things that would be difficult for you to have removed (typically). One 'key' thing they often do is flood the collection agency with disputes, threats to file suits, and then more disputes, and many times, the collection agency will just take it off your credit file because it just simply isn't worth the hassle. There are a few (very few) reputable companies, and we're looking to find them and post them in our Credit Repair page. It is also important to note: we haven't used any of their services, and do not know the outcome of every case (obviously), so we do want to caution you. We did do a fairly in-depth search on them, and based on that research, the ones listed seem to be the most reputable, but we're not guaranteeing results in any way.
Again, We recommend you looking into each/all of them. Do your homework, all we are doing is giving you links to some well known, fairly reputable companies. Don't just take our word for it; we encourage you to look into them before you sign up. We have read complaints but also positive reviews, after reading many reviews (both positive and negative) we believe the companies listed in our Credit Repair page are reputable and may get you results.
Why is everything free - what's the catch?
Finding valid, correct credit information or credit facts on the internet can be tricky. Yes, there is plenty of correct information out there, but how do you know which is correct and which is wrong? That was our question and we decided to put something together that could be your one stop shop for credit information. We have linked up with several other websites to further inform you and continue to do so on a daily basis. We want all the relevant credit information we can get here for you. However, it is impossible to answer all possible questions before being asked, so if you have a question and can't find it on our site, Contact Us. Be sure to also check out our Credit Law Guide, which has multiple credit laws, which were broken down into small easy to find sections.
Second, there is no catch! We wanted to offer something a little different and what's more different than free? We're not interested in selling booklets/pamphlets, CDs or DVDs about credit repair. This kind of information should be easily accessible for free over the net and it is, but there's to much wrong information mixed in with it. We're not interested in having you sign up for anything or spam your email with a bunch of junk. That's not us, we have no interest in anything except supplying accurate credit information so you can know your options. So how do we make all of this possible???
We have added an "Ads" page which are ads we (creditmagic.net) have personally used and like, We also have an easy layout on just about all our ad sponsors here, as well as some ads on each page to the left. By putting up good offers and relevant ads, we think you may be interested in trying some offers out. We tried to offer good value ads that are "credit" relevant. None of them are spam or junk, (we hate that stuff) and just about all of them are fairly popular. We also tried to work on ads that are budget friendly to you, things like free trials, free to sign up, or even free money to sign up, were just some of the ads we wanted to offer you in our Ads Page. By having ads you may want, are interested in trying out and signing up, we can cover our costs and continue providing helpful information. We encourage you to check them out, but we don't push it.
One other place you could check out - our Credit Guide! If you're looking to obtain credit (credit cards, mortgage, auto loans, personal loans, hard money loans, etc.), looking to protect yourself and/or your family from ID Theft, interesting in opening an account (bank account or investments), or looking to find a credit repair company to do the repairing for you or even debt relief companies - you can find all of that and much more in our Credit Guide.
